At an average height of 70 meters above the level of Athens city there looms the
emblem of Greece’s whole history, the majestic Acropolis. The history of the Acropolis hill begins as early as in the 3rd millennium BC. as it seems that there
existed a settlement, given the fact that the hill was a natural fort with an access
only from its western side.

The Acropolis, the most timeless symbol of Greek culture, has been for centuries the first stop for foreign visitors as well as for locals who never miss the opportunity to admire the Parthenon, the Propylaia, the Erechtheum and, of course, the temple of Athena Nike at the top of the Acropolis.

The Parthenon

The Parthenon, the most brilliant creation the Athenian republic has to offer, built of white Pentelic marble and dedicated to the patroness of the city, Athena, impresses with its uniqueness as it manages to harmoniously combine the Doric with the Ionic order.
